Image of Nursing
This is one of the many images that I chose to represent what nursing looks like to me. I have wanted to be a nurse for quite some time now and I feel grateful to have an opporunity to learn what it is to be a nurse so early in my college career. The image depicts a women taking care of two recently born babies. I have a great deal of interest in labor and delivery nursing. I want to be able to care for both the mothers and their future children in the beautiful process of childbirth. Childbirth is not an easy thing to go through, and the horror stories I hear about how peoples’ process went deepens my passion to help be apart of it. I want to help make this process as easy and as comfortable as possible for my future patients, because that is what I would want if I ever decided to have kids. I know many nurses and even retired nurses. My cousin Nicki graduated from the University of New England and is now working as a full-time nurse in Maine. My aunt was head of nurses for a hospital in Boston and recommended trying out multiple paths regarding nursing. I plan on doing travel nursing first ad then going on into labor and delivery. To be a nurse like the one depicted above you have to have several prominent qualities. One of them is being a compassionate. To be compassionate is to be able to show others concern and sympathy. This is an essential skill to have because you will be constantly working with many different kinds of people, and you have to be able to understand their situation in order for their stay to be as comfortable as possible. I believe that I have this quality which will help me in my journey to become the nurse I want to be.
