Assumptions
I have assumptions about the nurse’s role in ethics regarding evidence implementation and generation. I believe evidence implementation is using researched, relevant information and using the information somehow during practice. Evidence generation is gathering information and answering questions to provide better care for patients by exploring studies that have been done on the topic of interest, reading research articles, and conducting research with a designated study design. Ethics are basically a set of moral principles and can differ among hospitals/persons/staff. Regarding evidence implementation and generation, I assume ethics are important to consider when going through this process during practice. I believe the Nurse’s role is to make sure that even if evidence is backed up during practice that the ethics of the hospital are being obliged. If there is ethical dilemmas in a healthcare setting the nurse should contribute by researching the issues and getting involved in implementing the hospitals ethics. When conducting research studies to implement in practice, nurses should contribute to this by being aware of hospital policies/ethical policies and be sure to conduct research in an ethical manner. Nurses take on many roles in and out of health facilities but one of those important roles involve being aware of ethical policies when performing evidence-based practice.
